- Where does your data live? In the past, data storage and warehousing required millions of dollars spent on hardware, software and management. It would take months to set up before it began to work and it was too expensive to upgrade. Data centers are a giant capital expenditure for organizations. Amazon knows this and has put together a clean set of tools to provide businesses with their data warehouse needs. This AWS design scenario was built to illustrate the parts of AWS that come together to provide a warehousing solution. AWS warehousing solution design requires S3, EC2, EMR, Redshift and Quicksight. S3 for storage, EC2 is for compute, EMR is for map reduce, Redshift is our analysis, and Quicksight is our data visualization. In the previous design scenario we set up everything but EMR. Let's jump into AWS and set up our EMR. Back in the control panel I'll type EMR. Select it. I'll select Create cluster. I'll name the cluster awsemrexample. I'll leave everything else at default.…
