- [Instructor] As we're starting to understand possibilities around security in the Amazon ecosystem, I'd like to start with the most basic consideration, and that really is, data, for businesses, is money. And what I mean by this is when you're thinking about security and disaster recovery, you want to think about what are the financial consequences to the business if data is viewed, altered, or lost? All of these strategies take time and, often, cost money, both in labor costs and in service costs. So you have to be justifying the spend based on protecting your data asset. So concerns or questions that you want to ask to understand how much you want to spend protecting your data assets are, what or which information are you protecting? Where is the information stored? Is it in transit? Is it stored locally? Is it stored off-site? Who has access to the information? What level of access? Who should have access to the information?
