- So far, I've explained the basics of how to get your products into the Amazon catalog and how to get them to Amazon's warehouses if you're going to be using FBA. With locked and viable pricing, your products will start selling. So now you need to know how you're going to manage your account. How you'll deal with incoming orders if your shipping for yourself. How to modify products. How to adjust pricing for instance. How to view reports and so on. All these tasks and more are done in Seller Central a web based management system.
As you've seen before, there are two ways to get into Seller Central. If you're already logged into your Amazon account click the your account button, then click the your seller account link. Or you can use the sellercentral.amazon.com URL to go straight to Seller Central. When you first load Seller Central you'll see your dashboard. This contains a few areas that Amazon thinks you'll find useful. Along with the menu that leads you into the detailed grunt work of managing your account.
Some of these boxes can be collapsed if you want to make the screen cleaner and less intimidating. Just click these little down triangles and select collapse. You can also move the boxes on the side around to suit your preference. In the top left, we see the orders box providing basic information about your sells. You can go directly to the manage orders page by clicking here. Below there, we have the performance box, something you'll want to watch closely. It provides various measures of performance.
Your seller rating which is based on customer reviews. An account health rating based on a variety of measures of customer satisfaction. Information about guarantees, charge backs and messages from customers. All these links take you to more information about each thing, of course. Next, we see the seller forums box with links with what appear to be randomly selected forum messages. This probably is not terribly helpful to most merchants. You may want to close it. Next, we have some general boxes. A search box allowing you to quickly search the Amazon catalog.
A list of potentially useful but general links. Then the site map. A list of links related to managing your seller account. This box simply duplicates the menus at the top of the page. So, all of these are things you may want to collapse in the pursuit of simplicity. On the right, you'll see a payment summary box. This shows you what Amazon owes you or vice versa if your fees currently exceed your income. The link takes you to the payments report which provides details. Below that is the case log box.
This simply contains a link to the case log page where you can see the support cases you've opened and view the answers to your questions from Amazon. Unless you have active cases, you might want to leave this collapsed. Finally, the sells summary box, which shows the number of items sold and their value over a week, 15 days and 30 days. The link goes to the sells dashboard where you can create detailed reports. In the middle, we have the Amazon seller coach which may provide suggestions for improving your product listings followed by various announcements and advertisements.
So, under managing your account, there are essentially four main management areas each with it's own menu. Managing your inventory, that is the products you've listed in the Amazon catalog. Handling sells. Shipping products and dealing with returns. Reports. Useful information about different aspects of your business. Performance. Information that's essentially about how happy you're keeping your customers. We'll be covering all of these items in later videos.
There's also an advertising menu. However, this is a totally optional thing. You won't be using this unless you plan to buy advertising from Amazon and we're not covering this subject in this course. Finally, there's the messages link which takes you to an area in which you can respond to customer's inquires. The help link which takes you to Amazon's help documentation and the seller support system and the settings menu which provides access to a variety of different account settings and choices. So, that's a quick overview of what's going on in Seller Central.
It looks a little intimidating when you first land on this page, but we'll be breaking it down into pieces as we move forward.
