Keeping your firmware up to date

- [Instructor] Keeping your firmware up to date is pretty easy, particularly if you have access to a desktop computer. What I find is that it's a simple process of just tethering the camera using a USB cable to the computer itself. Now, it's a good idea to make sure a few things are checked off before you start this process. You're gonna wanna make sure that you have two fully charged batteries in the camera if you're using a grip or one fully charged battery if you're not using a grip. This will ensure that the firmware is fully completed and that it doesn't shut down in the middle of an install. If the camera were to accidentally shut off while the operating system was being installed, this could cause some major problems in the camera itself. You might also find that your camera is a bit finicky about official Sony batteries being installed, so put a fully charged battery in the camera for best results.
