Measuring deviation between two objects

- In this video I'm going to show you how to measure the deviation between two entities. So let's move over to locators, and under deviation we have closest point. So with closest point we have true and projected. Let's go with true first, and we'll say go to that. You'll notice that this entity on the left down here is a 3D curve, and the entity on the right is just a straight line. Let's go into our top view. This first one is true. So pick a point on this line, and we're going to pick a point on this line here. We have a value of 99.7. So let's go back to deviation and let's switch that to projected. We'll say go. Let's pick roughly the same points like this. I want to move the locators out of the way like this, just move that one just below. So you can see that we have a very different value. One is 99 and one is 86. That's because one is given as a true dimension, and with the projected, what it's doing, it's taking that 3D curve, projecting it down onto a 2D plane, and giving us…
