- In this video, we're going to take a look at setting up construction planes. What's the value in using these particular types of construction entities? Well, with Alias, when you start a brand-new file, we always have a global origin, which is this XYZ triad that appears at this location here. You'll notice that the view cube ties up with that global origin, so when I go to the top view here, X is going to be horizontal, Y is going to be vertical, and in the bottom left, we also have another indicator that shows us where global XYZ is and how it's oriented at this particular time. There are times when we're modeling that we may want to change this global origin to a local origin. In other words, I want my XYZ to be at my cursor location at the top of this particular piece of data. Now, in order to set this up, we have to use a construction plane. Let's go ahead and do that.
