- [Instructor] The primary field is considered to be the most important field in any table because it's the field that Airtable uses to refer to each record. The primary field is always the first column and it can't be moved or deleted. Our goal is to simply decide which field is important enough to become our primary field. The best kind of primary field has two traits. Number one, it gives us a unique value for each record. And number two, it enables us to easily distinguish records from one another. So let's take a look at the list of fields that we want to include in our schedule of events table. We've got start time, end time, session title, speaker and room. Now at first glance, we might think that the start time of each event would be a great primary field, but what if two different events are both starting at the same time?
