The role of conformed media cache

- Now besides the media is disk cache, there actually is another cache that could be quite useful. And that's for conformed files. Let me show you what this is going to do. If you're inside of After Effects and you bring that back up, you'll notice that we have the Conformed Media Database. What is exactly is a Conform file? Well, it depends upon what you bring into the project. Certain media types like MP3 Audio has to be converted so it can be used. Or maybe you have an MPG4 Video file from a DSLR. Those files, by default, will not work when first brought into After Effects. It essentially has to analyze those files and pre-process them a bit. So let's import here for a moment and I'm going to select from Folder Six, the desert footage here. An MPG4 Video Clip and choose Import. That comes in, but under the hood, the file is being optimized a bit. So if we put that into a composition here, when we preview it, everything's fine, it quickly caches the frames.
