- As you work with layers, it's important that you pay attention to the layer quality switch. Different types of layers have a sampling mode. And this is different than the continuously rasterized switch for vector layers, but has a similar effect. Let's take a look at our timeline here. We'll go to switches and modes and you'll see that there's a draft quality switch here. This allows me to turn this to different options. Now, you'll notice as we click that switch, it switched to a curved line. Now, there's really four positions here. This first one is a draft quality, a jagged line. What this really means is that the animation itself, any movement isn't going to appear as crisp. So, as elements move around, they're lower quality. On the other hand, the standard view is by linear, here. And this is the quality that After Effects has always traditionally used.
