Join Chris Meyer for an in-depth discussion in this video Wrapping up, part of After Effects CC 2013 New Features.
…In addition to those various user…interface and preferences changes that I cover…in the last movie, there's been several other nice updates to After Effects.…Particularly in the area of performance.…For example, After Effects can now take advantage of Intel GPUs, like the ones…built into Apple MacBook Airs and such…to help accelerate some onscreen display functions.…It can also take advantage of the Optics 3 language from NVIDIA, which will…give you some better performance for things…with a ray trace renderer like bevel edges.…
And speaking of that red trace 3D rendering in After Effects, as you know it…does rely on you having a compliant NVIDIA…CUDA enabled card or chip inside your computer.…Now previously Nvidia has released new cards faster than…Adobe could update the software to support those cards.…So, they made a nice little change in this new October 2013 release of After Effects.…Inside Preferences, underneath Previews, if you go into the…GPU options, there is now an option to disable…checking the so called white list, whether or not…

4/4/2013The September 2013 update brought the new Rigid Mask Tracker, as well as additional ways to scale up footage cleanly, while the highlight of the December 2013 update was the ability to convert parametric shape layers to Bézier paths, and Bézier paths into shape layers. The NAB 2014 update shows off important new integration with Adobe Premiere Pro and Typekit, as well major updates to effects. Smaller yet still important new and enhanced features in each release are also touched on throughout. As always, Chris doesn't just show you where these new features are, but how to apply them to your own projects, along with preferred working practices and potential gotchas.
