Working in native formats

- There's really two ways to work with green screen footage. You can work with it natively, directly how it came out of camera, or you could transcode. Let's start by talking about native footage. With native footage, you're going to use a application, such as Adobe Premier Pro, that can recognize the file footage in its native format. No additional conversion is necessary. Now, there are some pros and cons, here. One advantage is that, while you're on set, you can easily pop in a memory card and do a quick test key, right there, on a laptop or mobile workstation, to check how things are going. I like to do this on set, and I find that it's reassuring to know that the key's working. A lot of times, the crew will continue to tweak and tweak and tweak, but, if you get a stop, check the footage, and go, looks pretty good?
