What is a mask?
- As we all know from Photoshop and Illustrator, a mask hides a part of your image or video. And in After Effects, it's not different. Using After Effects, we can create a mask or even copy and paste from another application. Of course, this is After Effects, so we can also animate our mask. Let's start by creating and modifying a mask. Let's go ahead and create a new composition. For that, click on the composition menu and choose New Composition. Let's make sure that we're using the preset for HDTV 1080 29.97. And let's name this composition 4.1 What is a Mask? For now, the duration of the composition doesn't matter. The default should be 30 seconds, and that's fine. Let's just go ahead and click OK. What we have now is a new composition that is completely empty. Let's create a solid for it to live in here. For that, go to the Layer menu, choose New and then Solid. And from here, we can choose whatever color we want.…
