What is a keyframe?
- Key frame this, key frame that. We hear these words all the time, but what exactly do they mean? Well, a key frame in traditional animation is the frame of the animation drawn by the master animator. The master animator will draw a minimum of two key frames and hand those two key frames to the assistant animators with instructions on timing. So two separate key frames and the master animator would tell the assistants that one second would need to pass between the first and the second key frames. The assistant animators would just say, okay, 24 frames per second, which is the frame rate of film. We already have two of them, so we need to draw 22 extra frames connecting the first key frame to the second key frame. We are the master animators and After Effects is the assistant. So there are two things I need you to remember. You need to tell After Effects where or when you want for the animation to start with a value.…
