Explore the new features in Adobe After Effects CC 2018. Discover how to edit keyboard shortcuts visually, automate motion with data-driven animation, work with immersive video VR effects, and more.
- [Marl] Hi, and welcome to After Effects Creative Cloud 2018. I'm Mark Christiansen, and I'm going to take you through the new features in this, my very favorite Adobe application. This course covers everything major that has been added to After Effects 2018, including the addition of 360 degree virtual reality tools, also known as immersive video offering. These tools were acquired by Adobe from Metal Software, and this happened since the last update of After Effects earlier in 2017.
So in this course, I'll be showing you some powerful new additions, starting with what you can do using the ability to link notes to paths, which is more than you might think. We'll take a look at work flow improvements like font previewing and visual keyboard shortcuts, and technically sophisticated features like data-driven animation using JSON files. We'll also take a somewhat in-depth look at what all is included in the immersive video tool set. There are many more changes that don't merit a lesson of their own, yet may significantly change the way you work with After Effects.
So, whether this is your first look at what's new in After Effects, or you're using this course to get a more hands-on understanding of the new features, and even to learn about features that you might otherwise only stumble upon, I look forward to showing you what the latest version of After Effects has to offer. As Adobe releases new updates to After Effects, we'll be adding more movies on to this course reflecting those changes. Therefore, don't worry so much about what project file or what composition I'm using in a particular movie. This is all about showing you what the new features are, teaching you the work flow, so you can get the most out of them, and hit the ground running.
To keep you up-to-date on the latest additions to After Effects CC 2018, Mark will update the course when new features are released.
