Social problems are big problems, that affect a lot of people in a society. For example, 30 percent of people with disabilities are living in poverty. 730 million people, have difficulties hearing, seeing, and speaking. There are over 2.6 billion overweight and obese people. And nearly 1.3 million die in road crashes each year. At the same time, technology has become apart of our life.
Almost half of the world's population is connected to the internet. Around 25 percent use smartphones. And in 2014 there were 1.3 million tech startups worldwide. Connecting these two is social tech. "The innovative application of digital technology to address complex social challenges."
