- Hi I'm Chris Meyer of Chris Design. And welcome to the second of three courses on using Maxon Cinema 4D Lite with After Effects. In this one, you're going to learn to create and animate text inside Cinema 4D. Bring it into After Effects and then composite it over a 2D background. The steps we're going to be going through include creating the text inside Cinema 4D Lite, including kerning it, extruding it to give it depth, beveling it to give it an interesting edge, applying an effector to it to push it around in 3D space and using that to set up a cascade style animation. Animating the text, and refining the speed of the animation in the f curve editor. We're then going to apply a glass-like texture to the letters and a metal rim around them. And then add light to add some nice spectral highlights to this scene. We're then going to bring that into After Effects and actually do the camera move inside AE. And then, to better composite over the background, we're going to create an object buffer: a high contrast map for the text. Make it part of a multi pass render so we can separate it out. And use this map to fake a glass-like distortion for the 2D background. We're also going to spend some time trying to improve our quality by dealing with anti-aliasing. In the case of the client hands you a logo you made in Illustrator, we'll show you that workflow as well. I think the end result looks really nice. And this is one of the projects I'm personally most excited about. Now, this is the second of three After Effects apprentice courses on using Cinema 4D Lite with After Effects. And I do expect that you've watched the prior course: "After Effects Apprentice 17." That course includes a lot of detail on how to move around the Cinema 4D user interface and also details on setting up After Effects and Cinema 4D projects to work with each other. If you have watched that course you really don't need any prior 3D experience. You need to know your way around After Effects. But don't worry if you're completely new to Cinema 4D. I'm going to show you how to create a really cool looking animation from scratch. So, let's dive in.
