Using a reference color checker
- The use of a color calibration chart is quite useful to make sure that your footage is accurately color corrected. By using the reference chart, you can really avoid any misperceptions about color. Now, there are a wide range of these out there, but I'm going to show you one from a company called X-Rite. If we look at the footage here, you'll see that I inserted the color checker into the scene. And the color looks good in this shot, but it's not actually accurate. I notice, for example, a little bit of a greenish cast and a gold cast from the sunlight. So, to make this easier, I'm going to create some masks to target things. Let's draw two masks on the image. With my pen tool here, I'll click around these targets right here. And close the loop. And that creates a selection on these different targets.
