- [Instructor] Often when we have built up a heavy composition, it's helpful to create pre-renders to speed up our work. Generally, if we have an element that we are using over and over again, as a pre-comp, or we know that a certain section of our shot is locked and not going to change, then we can create what's called a pre-render. The idea here is that by creating a render of these elements, we're asking after effects to calculate less and speed up our workflow by reading those elements off of our hard drive instead. So here in this composition, I've got some fire that I've introduced and it's a pre-comp that I'm using, I've got four instances of it here, and you can see as I'm previewing, it's chugging along. And of course there's other elements in the scene that are contributing to the longer preview time. However, if I wanted to populate more of the scene with all this fire, generally, I'm looking for redundancies…
