Join Richard Harrington for an in-depth discussion in this video Using the Position, Scale, Rotation method, part of After Effects Guru: Tracking and Stabilizing Footage.
…While the position method will often get the job done,…sometimes your going to deal with a little bit of movement.…Maybe the camera's going in and out a bit, as well as side by side.…In this next shot I have just that problem,…a camera that is attached to a large piece of equipment and it's shaking.…Now in this case, the camera is mounted right to the side of the bulldozer.…And if we look at this clip, without the work stabilizer, as the treads are going…through the dirt here, the machine has a lot of mechanical vibration.…
We're also dealing with some subjects and…the wide-angle curvature of the GoPro Lens.…In this case, let's take a look at the shot.…I'm going to show the tracking points, and…remove some of the points on our person here, who's moving around the scene.…In this case, this moving object shouldn't be tracked.…And you'll see that several of these dots here, on the grids themselves,…as well as the angular details here, are really tracking quite well.…
What I'm going to attempt to do in this case, is stabilize.…
- Analyzing footage
- Using the 3D camera tracker to stabilize footage
- Choosing and moving a target
- Adding 3D text to a scene
- Tracking an object
- Applying the Warp Stabilizer VFX
- Choosing a stabilization method
- Reducing rolling shutter distortion
- Matching movement
