Join Richard Harrington for an in-depth discussion in this video Using the position method, part of After Effects Guru: Tracking and Stabilizing Footage.
…Let's take a closer look at the four different methods available.…In this case, I have some problematic footage and…I'd like to show you how the different options come into play.…To begin with, we'll do the Simple Position method.…Let's explore this clip with the effect turned off at first.…In this case, we're doing a very linear pan against our subject.…The camera has moved from the left of the screen to the right edge of the screen.…And we're shooting against a strong grid background that's relatively flat.…
In this case, the distortion is going to be pretty easy to see.…If we take a look at the tracking points, and…scale those up a little, you can start to see what's being tracked in the scene.…For best results, I'm going to remove some of these points on our subject so…that's using more of the static background for tracking.…Now as you drag through you may notice some points reappear.…But by deleting away some of those points, and…making sure the Auto Delete Points Across Time is selected.…
It's a lot easier to get a cleaner frame for tracking purposes.…
