- [Instructor] We saw that rotoscoping can be a tedious task because we need to create a matte for every individual frame and then go back and forth and finesse the result to get a smoother motion. So before you decide to swear off rotoscoping forever, I want to show you a tool that can help to make this process less painful. The Roto Brush and Refine Edge tool in After Effects, provide an alternative, faster workflow for segmentation and creation of a matte. Using the Roto Brush is a lot like using the Quick Selection tool in Photoshop. The main difference being that with rotoscoping, you are editing a plethora of images instead of just one. Now I must admit that the Roto brush is not the most intuitive tool, but if you know how to use it, it can be a godsend. So to demonstrate how to work with it, we are going to cut this owl from its background and placing on top of this green tree branch. Okay, so this is the final result…
