Using the Equalize command

- Another adjustment that's fairly automatic is the Equalize command, and it's a command that I first discovered inside of Photoshop. Essentially, it allows the image to analyze itself and automatically balance out some of the contrast in the different tonal zones. Now it works quite well, but I strongly suggest using it with an adjustment layer, so you can blend it if needed. Let's open up this image here. And you'll see that we've got great dynamic range. The highlights are nice and bright. The shadows and nice and dark. But it's pretty muddy. And instead of fighting things with shadows and highlights, I'm just going to add a new adjustment layer. Now I'll type in the word equalize, and you'll see a little bit of magic. It analyzes the shot and does a whole bunch to fix things. Now the key here is that there's different styles.
