- We've looked at Keylight as well as Advanced Spill Suppressor under the Keying menu. Now let's take a look at the third tool that's designed to be used with them. That one is called Key Cleaner. It's also found under the Keying menu, and it automatically refines edges. Here you can see that the edges look a lot softer than they did prior to applying it. But if we look at the Alpha Channel, there are also a few problems. Specifically, there is noise and there are holes in the matte that have been introduced that were not there before. This isn't necessarily a reason not to use Key Cleaner. In fact, the additional Edge Radius setting that's here is just set a little bit too high. So by lowering this to something more palatable, between say 2 and 3, I get the benefit of a softer edge, without the undue side effects.
