Join Mark Christiansen for an in-depth discussion in this video Upgrade legacy blurs automatically, part of After Effects CC 2017: New Features.
- [Narrator] In a previous version of After Effects…gaussian blur was not only rewritten to be GPU enabled.…Fast blur as well as the previous version…of gaussian blur were moved over here…into this obsolete category in the effect menu.…So along with a number of other effects,…these two blurs have effectively been superseded…but there's now a script that will update…these effects to the newer GPU…enabled version of gaussian blur.…
To show you this I'm just going to apply…both of these effects and I'll give them some settings.…I'll go ahead and make fast blur horizontal only…and to get rid of these gaps on the side…I'll repeat edge pixels.…Gaussian blur I'll just raise it and you'll see…that there's no replace edge pixel option…so we're going to get a border.…And now that I've created that lovely piece of art…I'm going to go ahead into the file menu.…
Under scripts I'm going to change upgrade legacy blurs.…And I have the option to repeat edge pixels…in gaussian blur which is not an option…on the effect itself.…I'm going to go ahead and check that one…
