Temporary tools
(silence) - If you are using After Effects for a living, you know that time is money. And you can waste a lot of time just switching tools, especially since you often need to return to the Selection tool when you're done using any of the other tools. The other thing of going back and forth picking tools, you'll probably know that each tool has its own shortcut. And if you hover over the Pen tool, it's shortcut is G, and of course, the Selection tool is V. While it's great to use these shortcuts, sometimes you only want to use a tool temporarily. As an example of a temporary tool, when I press the Space bar, I'm only using the Hand tool temporarily. Notice in the Tools panel it's switching to the Hand tool, but when I release the Space bar, it automatically switches back to using the Selection tool. But you can use any of these tools temporarily by pressing the shortcut that goes with each tool. Let's start with the Zoom tool. Since that's an easy one, the shortcut is Z. Now you might…
