Join Ian Robinson for an in-depth discussion in this video Stylizing animated shape layers, part of After Effects Guru: Working with Vectors.
…So now that we've got our animation set up and…we have the majority of our elements in the scene layered…in a fashion that we actually like, we can add…the final bits of polish just by doing our final stylizing.…So, looking at the project, my black background is extraordinarily…strong and it's definitely isolated my map element off of everything.…But notice there isn't a really…strong definition to this kind of cool shape that I've created.…So, let's start by actually creating a…stroke around the outside of this black element.…
I'll go ahead and collapse my arrow layer here and select rectangle one.…Now, notice I've got two masks that are creating this shape.…If I go up under Effects and go to…Generate and choose Stroke, there's going to be an issue.…If we increase the brush…size of the stroke, notice the stroke is squared…off here and this second mask is being ignored.…Now, I could tell it to use all masks,…but then it literally applies a stroke to all masks.…So the stroke effect is really going to be a no-go for this.…
