Straddle compositions with an expression control
In this lesson I'm going to show you how to set up a simple expression control that can be used to dial in a value anywhere in your project. In this case it's in a completely separate column. So to start from scratch I'll actually delete this. And you'll see something alarming, you'll see an expressions error. Well, there's no reason to be alarmed. I'll just clear that. The error told me where it was located, and I happen to know it's in this precomp. So here you see opacity and there's a little warning sign there. I'll just clear that out. Holding down the Option key or Alt on Windows, I click on the stopwatch. That toggles expressions on and off for that property. And I'll show you the basics of how this works right here. To begin, you set yourself an expression control. So, among the effects built into After Effects, are expression controls, and there are several of them. Slider control is the most widely used.
