Slip editing
- After Effects is not a video editing program. However, it does have a few video editing features that are worth learning, such as Slip Editing, the subject of this hidden gem. In this particular composition, which I'll preview, I'm looking at the video edit. I'm going, not so happy with the pacing. For example, this animal coming in from the right is a little bit slow, and this elephant, its barely moving before we cut off to these wildebeests. So, what I would prefer is to have both of those actions start earlier. Well, rather than having to retrim the layer, you can hover your cursor over the layer bar, and you'll get this special icon. It indicates Slip Editing. It will keep the in and out points the same, relative to the composition, but change them relative to the clip. In this case, I'm going to say, let's bring in that animal a little bit earlier, and now we have a little bit more of the action there. Might change that a little bit more for when we get up on that clip…
