Setting up the project

We're ready to start our project, so here is After Effects CC, nothing is here yet, but we can start by bringing in our first piece of footage. Now, before I do that, I want to check a few of the global preferences. I'll start by going to File>Project Settings, here I'll switch it from time code for the time display style to frames. When working with image sequences and visual effects, it's easier to see what's going on with frames listed on the timeline. So Frames and then OK. I'll also go to Edit>Preferences>Import. Here I'm going to change these sequence footage from 24 frames per second to 30. What that means is, any footage that's imported is automatically interpreted at 30 frames per second. In this case, that's good because that's the way it was originally shot. This is typically important for image sequences that are brought in because they don't have their own inherent frame rate.
