Now I'll introduce a concept that we'll revisit throughout this course. That you can add a color grade to a shutter sequence at any point in the process of developing the shot. Not just at the end. And you can take this approach even if you don't have access to any of the great third party plug-ins available for After Effects. Here I've applied a base grade to this shot, without it the shot looks like this. Now, why would you want to spend 90 to 99% of your times working on this shot with it looking like this. When at no cost, you could just transform it to look like this with a single layer that can be turned on and off at any time and just sits above all your footage. Not only that, you can get more expressive if you like. You can take the shot in a warmer, or a cooler direction. And here's the big surprise, all of these were created just with curves.
