- As I've shown in another lesson, we didn't really get a shot that exactly matches where the guy holding the board is standing at the center of this shot. We need to fill in what's behind him. It's most often the case that despite all your efforts planning, visual effects doesn't occur in a perfect world, so in this lesson let's learn to compensate and specifically, rather than making up detail that's not there, which is the simplest form of what you would call mat painting, I'm going to instead match in this background that doesn't look so hot initially. So let's draw a mask around the area where our guy is standing. A simple rectangle will do. And I say that, but I'm gonna have to actually adjust it to compensate for the little mistake I made there. I don't know if he's casting a shadow on the ground as well, but just in case I'm gonna go down a little bit. And turn that back on. So you can see it doesn't quite line up and we knew the colors don't quite match. Let's line it up…
