Refining soft edge
- [Instructor] Underneath the Roto Brush tool there is another one called the Refine Edge tool. You can use it as a secondary path to improve the existing matte by creating partial transparency along areas that contain fine details such as hair or fur. Let me show you how to work with it. So, I'll select the tool, and I must emphasize that to work with it you first need to create a path of the Roto Brush. Notice the tool name is Roto Brush and Refine Edge, but all the properties for the Refine Edge are dimmed right now. So, you need to create your first path, and this is what we've created in the previous movie. So, I'll double-click on the "Owl Movie." This is going to open it up inside the layer panel and I'll change the views here to see the Roto Brush and Refine Edge. And I'm also going to click on the Toggle Alpha Boundary to see the familiar pink line around our owl. Then I'll make sure to select the Refine Edge Tool…
