Refine Edge Matte in AE CC

- [Instructor] Once you're happy with the edge refinement region that you've created, now you can further tweak the result by editing the Refine Edge Matte parameters. You'll notice these are very similar to the Roto Brush Matte parameters. You have the same Layer Panel. And turn off the Alpha Boundary. Now we're seeing the comps background color. Or you can just simply switch back to the Composition Panel. Enable, Decontaminate Edge Color. And now you'll see a lot of the detail in the hair that you've been trying to preserve. At this point you need to make some trade-offs on how much of that detail you are going to keep. Smooth and Feather are two different ways of basically blurring out this new alpha channel that you've created. Those two parameters have very different results. Feather works just like an ordinary blur. Watch how her hair gets more blurred as I increase the Feather parameter. You see, it now just becomes very soft.
