Property links and effects

- [Instructor] The nice feature added to later versions of After Effects is something known as property linking. Some people refer to this is as instancing. It gives you the ability to copy parameter from one layer, paste into another layer and whenever you edit the master the layer you pasted to will follow along. It's particularly useful with effects. I'm going to assume you've already closed all of your prior compositions and we're going to open up PL, property links starter. This composition is just in the CC version of the exercise files. Here I have a shape layer for a line and several lines of text that I want to all get the same treatment. They're initially all white but the client thinks that's a bit boring, they like to see a color and maybe some added dimension. Rather than having to process every one of these layers individually you can set up all these layers to follow your changes just to one layer.
