- [Instructor] Having a tight deadline can be a good thing because it forces you to be decisive. A good way to cope with the pressure of a creative project is to set yourself a deadline and then create a time table from that. It will only take you a few minutes and it's a good feeling to have it to refer to when you're feeling under pressure. I usually start with the budget. What am I being paid for this job? I then divide this amount by my day rate and this will tell me how much time I can afford to spend on the work. For a five day job, I'd allocate half a day for research, a day for sketching out ideas and meeting with client, and that leaves me three days to complete the job and half a day for last minute changes. Remember that you must include design time as well as permitting time for trial and error if you're developing a new technique. I usually err on the side of caution.
