Join Lee Lanier for an in-depth discussion in this video Overview of the Maya scene file, part of VFX Techniques: Space Scene 01: Maya Animation and Dynamic Simulation.
…The way to start this project is by opening up a pre-prepared Maya scene file.…I'm in Maya 2014 right now.…And this is just the standard installation, with…the exception that I've hidden the shelf along here.…Any time you want to show or hide a UI element, go up to…display ,UI Elements, and you can turn these on or off, and here's my shelf.…Now before we open up the scene, we do want to set the project.…Set project ensures that the correct path is listed…so that all the bitmap textures are found correctly.…
If you don't do this, you might have the map textures missing.…So I'll go to file, set project.…In this window just select the exercise…files folder which contains all the project files.…This ones on my desktop.…Click set, now if this is the first time you've done…this for that folder it's going to give you this message.…You want to create the default work space.…That adds a few extra files, which makes running the program easier.…Now we're ready to open the file.…File, open, seen,…browse to your exercise files folder, and then go to the MA files folder.…
