Nudging a layer in the timeline - After Effects Tutorial
From the course: After Effects Guru: Mastering the Timeline
Nudging a layer in the timeline
- Earlier, you learned how to nudge keyframes in the timeline. Well it's also possible to nudge a layer in a similar way. Now if you have a layer selected and you add the alt key, you'll notice that it actually starts to nudge the layer forward a frame at a time. If you hold the shift key down, it's going to move that a larger amount, doing several frames of movement. This is a useful way if you need to move things around by simply pressing a key. This could be quite useful to line up several elements. Remember, this is just one technique, and you should combine it by also looking at the end point column or using the bracket keys that you learned about earlier. But sometimes a simple nudge is all that it takes.
