Modifying the timing with time remap
- To infuse the footage with more energy and pace, I want to change its timing and I don't mean just to slow it down or making it play faster. In this case, I want to use time to help the narrative of the story. Meaning, to slow down the blowing part where all the dried seeds are floating in the wind, and then, speed up the boring part between the first and the second blow of the girl in the video. This way, we'll have a more condensed clip that is very consistent and it will work better with the titles we'll add to it later. So, one of the most flexible ways to control time inside after effects, is by applying the Time Remap option. You can do it by selecting the clip and go to the Layer menu and then from Time, just enable Time Remapping. This will create two key frames at the beginning and the end of the clip and then you can modify the time using those key frames. In fact, you can also add more key frames.
