Linking 2D and 3D properties

There are times where you're going to want to link, a 2 d layer to a 3 d layer, or a 3 d layer to a 2 d layer. So I'm just going to show you some things that may crop up if you do that. So here I have, 2 d text layer. And if I preview this composition, you'll see I've got this 3D star moving around the screen and rotating. Of course, I could make this 3D, this text, but there may be a reason why I don't want it to be 3D. So I have my position value of my 2D text layer. Then I have a position value of my star layer. I'm going to Alt+click on the stopwatch for position for the starlight layer. And then I'm going to drag the pick whip down to, whoops. And I missed, so let's just do that again. I'm going to drag the pick whip down to the position property. And it will write an expression for me. And if we preview it, you'll see that the text is linked to the star. But obviously It's not picking up that z-axis movement, so just be aware that you can only have 2 properties here, so it will…
