Know reasons green screen is not always the answer

- In this lesson, we're gonna delve in to the background of shooting green screen before you work with it in After Effects, and I'm gonna give you this example where a green screen turned out to be way more trouble than it was worth. The ideal scenario with a green screen is to be indoors with a curved cyc, that is, a smooth wall painted green, that has been lit to match the foreground, within a stop or so of the foreground. So there are darker areas of the car, there's some spill, but honestly, this is a tough shot, and that background is as good as you're gonna get. Sometimes you have to rely on these little pop-ups or other more compromised mattes. They're still okay. You could see in other lessons how those wrinkles complicated things in terms of pulling edges, but honestly, this still has the benefit that the lighting of the foreground and background matches because it was behind the talent, and it's the same source: the sun.
