- Hello and welcome to A-E weekly. My name is Evan Stern, and in this episode I'll show you how to create this ghost smearing effect that communicate an extreme speed motion without using motion layer. Instead we use an adjustment layer with one mask, and one effect. All right so I'll pause the playback and lets move to this composition where I have this clip that we've stabilized last week. So this is it. I already pre-composed it, as well as applied some time remarking key frames. So it would look like this is accelerating from one second towards the end of the clip. So he's changing his speed and we want to illustrate it by adding some effect that will exaggerate the motion. So I'll go to the beginning, make sure nothing is selected here, and go to the layer menu, and create an adjustment layer.
