- Let's jump forward to the next step here and what you'll notice with this particular image is that the details are a bit crushed. While we have a good white balance, we really don't have the full dynamic range for the shot. So this means we need to really address both the shadowy areas and the highlight areas to balance things out. I can continue working with the Lumetri color effect which has basic correction. If you want to isolate this, you can also add another layer, if necessary, to keep each effect on its own layer. But I'll just work with the basic correction. Now let's take a look, If I click the auto button here, you'll see it attempts to rebalance the shot for me and that did a nice job of adjusting some of the points but the bird's body is effectively lost. In this case, we need to lift up the shadows to really bring out the detail there in the body of the bird. However, I notice that the blue channel here…
