Join EJ Hassenfratz for an in-depth discussion in this video Day 1 challenge: Aqua farm, part of 5-Day Mograph Challenge: Typographic Logo Animation.
- Hi, and welcome to day one of this five day mograph challenge. In this challenge, you'll play the role of a motion graphic artist, who is tasked to animate this aqua farm logo type, designed by a lynda.com author, Von-Glitschka. With logo type branding, you want to make sure there's some kind of unique element in it that makes it stand out. Think about all the iconic logo types out there that are immediately recognizable, even though they're simply a font. Google is just a font with colorful letters.
eBay also has colorful letters that are slightly overlapping one another. And FedEx has a great touch in its logo, and it has an actually hidden arrow between the negative space of the E and the X. These subtle design tweaks make the difference between simply being a font, to turning it into an iconic branding. For this logo type, try to play around with the unique elements and how to animate them. And keep in mind this is for an imaginary client, so you'll want to stay on brand. So get creative with how you can animate this logo in a way that suits what this aqua farm company does, or may be about.
When you're done, remember to share what you came up with on social media, using the hashtag 5daymograph, and submit your animation to the challenge Tumblr page at 5daymograph.tumblr.com.
We'd love to see your solutions. Show us your work on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #5dayMograph, and by posting it to our Tumblr page at 5daymograph.tumblr.com.
