Creating and extending still back plates
- Still back plates are still images you can use inside of your After Effects compositions. They typically reside at the bottom of your layer hierarchy, and they do a very good job of filling out the entire frame with graphic information. And, with all the various content aware tools inside of Photoshop, that's my go to tool whenever I need to create a still back plate. So that's what we're going to do in this video. Now we're gonna start this out in After Effects. In your After Effects project, go to the Project panel and make sure you have the Still_Backplate composition selected. Then go up under Composition and choose Comp Settings. I want you to make sure your Resolution is set to Full, and if it is, then you can click Cancel. If it's not, go ahead and make sure it's set to Full and then click OK. Now we're gonna create a 1920x1080 background from this 1280x720 video clip, and we'll do that using Photoshop. So to export any frame out of an After Effects project into a Photoshop…
