Creating RAM previews

- As you work in After Effects, remember the only way it can achieve real time playback is through the use of RAM or through the media disk cash that gets written, which is basically serving as virtual RAM. What's going to be necessary here is that those frames become processed and stored, and there's a couple of ways to pull that off. If we're in a composition and we move the current time indicator or the play head, you'll see that it attempts to preview that area. Notice as I drag through there those frames are starting to write. If I drag slowly, those will actually get cashed, but if I drag quickly it might skip over some of those and just attempt to get to the area where we're working. Another method is to click the play button or the space bar, and you'll see that it makes its way through the composition and starts to cash those frames. Now in this particular case with the Ray-traced 3D, fortunately we're on a relatively beefy computer and those frames load relatively quickly…
