Join Angie Taylor for an in-depth discussion in this video Copying and pasting expressions, part of Learning After Effects Expressions.
…In the previous exercise, we used this angle…control here to control the rotation of this layer.…And that's created an expression, if we'd close and…open that, you should see the expression in here.…Once we have that expression, we can…actually copy and paste it to other layers.…So I can select that rotation value, go to Edit > Copy.…If you choose Copy, it will copy any keyframes…plus the expression.…Now there are times when you don't want keyframes, you only want the expression.…
And when that happens, you have Copy Expression Only.…There's also another option for property links,…but we'll have a look at those later.…So choose Copy Expression Only, and then select the other layers that…you want to have the same expression on, which are cog2 to cog5.…Now if we go to Paste, and…you'll see immediately that those properties turn…red, telling me they're controlled by an expression.…And you'll see they all have the same movement now.…Okay, so they're all rotating in exactly the same way.…
Now, we then need to go through them one by…
