Controlling cache size

- Remember, when you're previewing in After Effects, it tends to use RAM. I'll show you an example here. Let's start to load this in, and you'll see that the frames are caching down below. What's happening is that those are being loaded into memory, and the green indicates that the frames are being stored. Now, that's quite useful, and eventually it leads to smooth playback. But, if you don't have enough memory in your system, this can cause problems. So, there's an important setting that you need to know about. Back here under the Preferences for Memory, there's a small checkbox that you might have missed And that is right here. Reduce the Cache Size When the System is Low on Memory. What this does is it means that instead of running out of memory, it will just preview a smaller area. So, if you don't have enough RAM available for the RAM preview of the preview area, well, then what will happen is it will drop frames and it will shorten the amount that's going to be previewed…
