Coloring storyboards

- Once you have a good crisp story board image, it's not a bad idea to add color. Now, not all productions are going to require color. If I'm just making something for simple composition, it's not as important, but if you want to help convey lighting and use gradation, or you want to make them look a bit more professionally polished, well then a bit of color goes a long way. Fortunately, this is easy to do in Photoshop. Let's explore some painting and color strategies and then blend back in the tonal image on top to keep all the color inside the lines. Let's work with this last image that we cleaned up. You'll note I have a flattened copy on top. You can use tools like the magic wand tool to try to make a basic selection and depending upon how clean your lines are, sometimes that works quite effectively. In this case, I've selected the arrow and I'm just gonna add an adjustment layer. I'll click down here for the solid or adjustment layer and I'm gonna choose Gradient. You'll note…
