Chromatic aberration effect

- [Instructor] Hello, and welcome to another AE Weekly Tip. I'm Albert Stern and this time we will create a chromatic aberration effect using only the built-in tools in After Effects. So first, just so we'll be on the same page, the term "chromatic aberration" in optics is a failure of the lens to focus all colors to the same point. It's caused by a dispersion when the refractive index of the lens elements varies with the wavelength of light, so it looks like colors are shifting away from each other and it's noticeable especially in the corner of the frame. Usually, we want to eliminate this effect, but sometimes there is a nice feel to it, and it's actually adding some analog quality to the movie. So here are two ways to create this effect inside After Effects. I'm going to use those two shots of Montreal as a demonstration.
