Join Richard Harrington for an in-depth discussion in this video Choosing a shot type for stabilization, part of After Effects Guru: Tracking and Stabilizing Footage.
…In order to create a virtual camera,…you're going to need to tell the clip what type of lens was used.…Essentially, were you shooting with a prime or a zoom lens?…And if you can get more specific, all the better.…Let's open up a clip here that's using a prime lens.…This dolly shot.…You'll notice with the clip selected here,…I've specified that this is a fixed angle of view.…I've already composited something in here, and…I'll walk you through this process in a moment.…But watch what happens.…The lens doesn't zoom, rather, it's moving.…
And what I'm able to do is create a virtual camera.…A 3D camera that moves through the scene.…Here's the real movement on the scene.…Once I analyze that data, and told it that it was a prime lens,…I was able to take a new sign and composite that into the scene.…And see that it matches the movement.…We're able to update the sign here, and the shot,…without having to go back out, and have the commercial ready for two languages.…So this is just a simple example of a fixed angle of view.…
